The third quarter of 2022 brought interesting trends for the top Maps and Navigation applications on the Android platform in Costa Rica. Here’s a look at how the leading apps performed, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic

Waze showed a consistent increase in weekly downloads, peaking at approximately 20K in the first week of August. However, there was a slight decline towards the end of the quarter, with downloads dropping to around 12K in the last week of September. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 116K in early July and ending at 113K by late September.

DiDi Rider: Affordable rides

DiDi Rider experienced a fluctuating download trend, with a notable peak of around 11.7K in mid-September. Active users rose significantly, starting from 185K in late June and reaching a high of 202K by mid-September, before stabilizing around 191K towards the end of the quarter.

Uber - Request a ride

Uber's weekly downloads saw a general upward trend, culminating at approximately 10.9K in mid-September. Active users also increased from 196K at the start of the quarter to about 208K by mid-September, with a slight dip to 199K towards the end of September.

inDrive. Save on city rides

inDrive had a steady increase in downloads, reaching a peak of 6.5K in mid-September. The app's active users also showed a positive trend, starting at 68K in late June and growing to 76K by mid-September, before slightly decreasing to 73K by the end of the quarter.

Moovit: Bus & Train Schedules

Moovit maintained a consistent weekly revenue of $1 throughout the quarter. Downloads fluctuated slightly, peaking at around 3.7K in mid-August. Active users increased from 31K at the beginning of the quarter to approximately 35.7K by mid-September, ending at 34.7K in late September.
